Passwords play an important role in our lives, whether it be the password of any mobile devices, cars, or any other gadgets. And forgetting the passwords of any device feels like getting lost in the desert. And it feels worse if it is about any of our Apple devices.
Apple ID passwords are the source of giving us access to our iCloud account, iCloud devices, and much more. And without it, we are sealed out of an essential part of our personal or even professional lives.
What is an Apple ID
Apple ID is a method of authentication that is used by Apple for iPhone, Mac, iPad, and other Apple devices.
Apple IDs consist of the user’s personal information and settings. When an Apple ID is required to log in to an Apple device, the device will automatically use the settings that are associated with the Apple ID.
How to create your Apple ID when setting up your device
Steps are-
Click on the ‘Forgot password’ or ‘Don’t have an Apple ID’.
Now, tap on the ‘Create a Free Apple ID’ option.
Choose your birthday and fill in your name. Then tap on ‘Next’.
Click on ‘Use your current email address’, or tap on the ‘Get a free iCloud email address’ option.
Finally, click on ‘continue’.
So, here in this article, there are three major methods to reset your Apple ID. And each of the methods includes several steps to reset your Apple IDs in case you forgot your apple id or if you have lost your device.
If you have ingress to at least any one of your Apple devices, then the step for resetting the Apple IDs is a bit direct on any of the browsers. But if you don’t have any of your Apple device’s access with you, then you will have to go for complex applications and methods like the ‘Find My iPhone’ app.
Or you also have an option to download the ‘Apple Support’ app into any of your friend’s devices and hence, try to reset the password by that means. And also be aware that any information entered by you during this process will not be stored on the device. So, there is no point in worrying.
Ways to reset Apple Id password
An Apple ID may be impaired or damaged for security incentives if the password is entered inaccurately multiple times. The user will be alerted with a prompt when the account has been damaged or disabled.
Apple IDs and passwords can be recovered by answering the account security questions on ‘iForgot’. For security motives, Apple will not adjust the password for an Apple ID account.
Another known error is “Your Apple ID has been disabled” without a revelation of any reason. The source of this error is yet unknown and adjusting one’s password does not clarify it.
Steps to reset your Apple ID password using the ‘Find My iPhone’ app on your device (you can also use someone else’s device) are-
Download the ‘Find My iPhone’/’Find My’ app if it is not previously installed on your device. And now open the app on the iPhone or iPad or Mac or iPod touch, whatever you are using.
Click on the ‘sign-in’ option. And on this ‘sign-in’ screen, erase the Apple ID field if it is filled up with some characters.
And if in case you do not see a sign-in screen, then select the ‘sign out’ option and further clear out the Apple ID field.
Now tap on the ‘Forgot Apple ID or password’ link.
Then enter the passcode of the device. And if it is not your device, then you will be required to ask the device holder for the passcode.
Enter a new password of your choice and enter it again to confirm it. (The Apple ID password should be of at least 8 characters and numbers, including the uppercase and lowercase letters.)
Choose the ‘Next’ option in the upper right-hand corner to verify the change.
Select ‘Next’ and follow the prompts to get the verification of the password change.
Steps to reset Apple ID password using the ‘Apple Support’ app with the help of someone else’s iPhone or iPad.
Download the ‘Apple Support’ app.
Open the app and tap on the ‘products’ option, present at the top of the screen.
Start scrolling down until the option ‘Apple ID’ appears on the screen. Now tap on it. (This option is present just next to a palette of the app icons, right on top of the ‘Apple music’ icon).
Choose the ‘Forgot Apple ID Password’ option.
Now tap on the ‘Get Started’ option. This initiates the process of resetting the password.
Click on the ‘A Different Apple ID’ link.
Enter the Apple ID for which you want to reset the password.
Tap on ‘Next’ and follow the prompts to get the verification of the password change.
Steps to reset Apple ID password on the web browser using your phone number and any one of your devices.
Open up your Apple ID page.
Tap on the ‘Forgot Apple ID or Password?’ link. This link is present beneath the Apple ID box.
Now, enter your Apple ID. But in case if you have forgotten the Apple ID, you can click on the blue-colored ‘loot it up’ link present on the page.
Enter your phone number which is registered with your Apple ID account.
Now, press ‘Continue’. (Apple helps you to remember the phone number associated with your account by providing you with the last two digits)
Apple will now send a desktop or mobile notification to all of your registered devices, asking you to reset your password through any one of them.
Follow the prompts appearing on your device to change your Apple ID password for a fortunate reset.
