Discord has become a must for gamers playing multiplayer or group games where communication is key even when far away. Along with this, it provides features like – showing the status of the player, what game is the gamer currently playing, etc.

In this article, we are going to analyze the Discord game activity features, their pros, cons, and how to control them.

Discord Game Activity

Discord provides several options and settings to track and monitor the gaming activity of your as well as your pals. The gaming progress and the type of games that they play can be seen by you and yours by them. Even though this seems to be a great way to show your gaming talent to everyone, some feel that it is a breach of privacy.

Not everyone needs to know what you do all day or what is the game that keeps you hooked to the gadget! So the game activity feature might be exciting but not for all.

On the other hand, some feel that they want to share their progress of selective game instead of everyone but as of now there is no such option to pick, you simply hide all the activities or show it to all. So, let us proceed further to learn how to hide what game you’re playing on discord to shun the eyes from your gaming preferences or progress.

How to hide sharing of Discord game activity?

Discord provides the rich presence feature which enables the visibility of gaming information such as the progress level. So, to avoid that here are a few techniques that might prevent it.

1. Changing the game status

The Discord game status is the means through which people can see whether you are online or offline. The status features shows:

  • Online
  • Idle
  • DND (Do not disturb)
  • Invisible

Here, online and idle status is automatically updated. If you are away from the keyboard (AFK) for a specific time then Discord displays ‘Idle’ from ‘Online’. Whereas DnD is an option that can be set by the user which means that he or she is online but does not want to be disturbed now (It is represented by a red dot near the player’s name).

But all these still give out your activity to others, so you can try using the invisible mode and stop these statuses from being shared. To turn invisible in Discord follow these steps:

  • Open your Discord application.
  • Click on the menu at the top left corner (three horizontal bars).
  • Click on the discord symbol or your avatar at the bottom corner of the application.
  • All four status options would be listed, from this choose the ‘Invisible’ option.
  • You can see the game activity on your device even in the Invisible mode but for others, you won’t be seen to be online. Hence, you can continue playing games and yet be hidden.

Try testing this from another device or anyone else connected in the server. This feature is cool as you can prevent negative or sour feelings which ignoring the invites when online might bring in.

Note: The invisible user’s status cannot be seen by others including the server admin.

2. Custom your status

This is an interesting feature which you might want to try. In Discord, you can custom your own status message that would convey your current status or what you are doing. To custom your status follow these steps:

  1. Open the Discord application on your device and click on the menu at the top left corner (three horizontal bars).
  2. Click on your avatar or profile to open the status list.
  3. Select the ‘Set Status’ option from the ‘User Settings’. You can see the current status on the right side of the tab.
  4. Click on the ‘Set a custom status’ option.
  5. Type your message in the space provided to personalize your account with a unique status.
  6. You can choose the period until which you want this status to be displayed. You have the option to set it for 30 minutes, 1 hour, 4 hours, or till the next day.
  7. If you do not want the status to be cleared until you want to, then choose the ‘Don’t Clear’ option.
  8. Now click on the ‘Save’ option (Floppy disk-shaped icon) at the bottom corner, to save the changes made.
  9. The new status would be updated immediately.

There is a lot of demand by the users to get the invisible feature such that it can be applied to a server but not on another so that you can be available to the group you want and not to others. As of now, this selective invisibility feature is not there in Discord but it would be great to have it!

3. Hide the game you are playing

You can hide the game activity by hiding the game that you are currently playing. To activate this feature follow try the following steps:

  • Open the Discord application on your device and click on the menu at the top left corner (three horizontal bars).
  • Click on the ‘Settings’ option at the bottom corner (The icon is gear-shaped).
  • Search for the ‘Game activity’ tab and click on it.
  • From the Game activity setting, disable the ‘Display the currently running game as status’ option using the toggle.
  • You can change this setting if you want to share the game information in the future.

Note: To access the ‘Game Activity’ tab you need to use the Discord application as you cannot find it if you are using it from a web browser.
