Here are some of the easy and quick methods you can try if your iPhone keeps turning on and off a lot:

  • Reset your iPhone

If your iPhone keeps shutting off then hard resetting it can turn out very useful as the most common reason why your iPhone keeps turning on and off is that it is stuck in an infinite loop and by the process of hard reset you can break that loop in which your iPhone is caught. Here is how you hard simply reset your iPhone:

  • In iPhone 6s, SE, and older models

Press your power button and home button of the iPhone at the same time until the phone screen turns black and release them free once you see the white Apple logo against the black screen. 

  • iPhone 7 & iPhone 7 Plus

In this, you need to press and hold the volume down and power button simultaneously and release both after you see the Apple logo appear on the screen.

  • iPhone 8, X, XS and newer models

In the latest versions, we have got a slightly different procedure than the above two. Press and release the volume up button on the side, then press and release the volume down button and then press and hold the side button until the screen turns black.

  • Try restoring your iPhone

This might come out as a rather strange method than the rest, but at the same time, it is very effective in preventing the iPhone from turning on and off.  Start by restoring your iPhone or your iPad in iTunes rather than on iCloud as is safer in the former application. As we know that iCloud is involved in reloading, reinstalling, offloading, making internal things harder and slower which even hard reset cannot fix. 

  • Check the battery health of your iPhone

Another cause due to which the iPhone keeps shutting off is the bad battery health of your iPhone and to know that you must check the battery health of your phone. By checking your battery you will get to know the condition of two things on your phone :The first is the charging capacity of your phone and the second is the strength of your battery which directly affects the performance and functioning of your phone. 

To view your battery health go to:

  1. Open Settings on your phone.
  2. Go to the battery option.
  3. Under the battery option, view battery health.
  4. Try DFU restore of your iPhone

If your iPhone keeps shutting off despite using the above techniques then try DFU restore of your iPhone. To do this: 

  • Connect your iPhone with a USB to your computer
  • Go to iTunes and make a backup of your iPhone. Once you’re done with the backup, put your iPhone in the DFU mode and restore the backup you made, there.
