Discord overlay not working

There’s a possibility that discord overplay might not work sometimes. The discord overlay on your computer is basically a smaller Discord window which allows you to switch between channels and DM threads while playing a game. The overlay usually appears on top of the game you’re playing and it will block out a part of it on your screen. Although you can choose which part of the screen it appears on. Discord Users have the option to toggle its visibility so that it only appears when they want it to.

Tweak the Discord overlay

If you want to be in the middle ground so that it can be less distracted but still use Discord you can tone it down a little. Just as the same Overlay page that you accessed above, you can make changes to how it looks and how much screen real estate it takes up.

Avatar Size – It can be large or small can shrink or expand imagery within the overlay.

Display Names – Displaying names always while Speaking or never showing Discord usernames during notifications.

Display Users – You can opt between always or Only While Speaking either permanently shows server players or displays their username while talking.

It’s also possible to change the position of the overlay. By default, on your screen, it is set to the top left corner. If that comes between something in-game you can adjust it accordingly from within the Overlay menu in Discord. Then, within the screen indicator select another position or select the block icon in the centre to turn it off altogether.

Run Discord as Administrator
