  3. Search for the ‘allow Cortana’ option and tap on it or double click on it to open it.

  2. Right-click on Cortana in the task manager and then tap on the ‘details’ option. This will take you to a new window that will show what is running on your desktop right then. Among the list of options, you will see a file with the name ‘SeachUI.exe’.
  3. Right-click on the file and open the file location and you will then know the location of the file which is a part of Microsoft Cortana.
  4. Now end the Cortana task from the task manager and rename this file from “Microsoft.Windows.Cortana_cw5n1h2txyewy” to some other name and you will see that not only Cortana but the windows search tool also gets broken because of the interconnection. To get back the original file, rename the file to “Microsoft.Windows.Cortana_cw5n1h2txyewy” and you will get back your Cortana and windows search working again.
