Despite having the name of the commander, it is highly unlikely that the new jeep SUV model will have this name as the trademark for the mark is taken by Mahindra. Although it is not actually announced by the official authorities, it is rumoured the name for the new jeep SUV model will be Jeep Meridian. Even the design shown on official websites is a heavily redesigned version of the Jeep Compass.

Even though the jeep commander is based on the small jeep compass model but the design is more inclined towards that of the bigger model of the jeep compass and the new Grand New Cherokee L. A few design details that share similarities with the Compass include the top-section folded backwards, the chrome detailing over the above edges of the windows. We can also see the new tail lamps and a rectangular full LED headlamp along with the window line which is exactly similar to that of the Jeep Compass.
The bumper design of the Jeep commander is also quite specific to its own model with large faux vents that consist of fog lamps and LED DRLs with a skid plate element. Coming to the length, the rear quarter windows are a lot more sizable and also have a rear overhang that looks quite longer than the ones present in the jeep compass.

The difference comes in the metallic trim inserts and suede inserts in the dashboard. Even the passenger seats present in the jeep commander are exactly similar to the jeep compass’ model with a diamond pattern backrest.

We have still not received any details and information of the jeep commander but according to various reports, that are not from the official sources, the car has a turbo petrol engine of flex-fuel 1.3L and 2.0 L engine.
Launch Details of Jeep SUV Commander in India
The 7-seater SUV is said to be launched in India next year in 2022. Being taken by Mahindra in India, the jeep commander will be launched under the name of jeep meridian instead. The jeep meridian will be out next year with a multijet laser engine and 9-speed automatic gearbox.
