Can you fathom a world where people live without social media without sharing what is going on in their lives? Of course, you cannot! There have been so many social media applications that are made to share and upload photos like, Instagram, Facebook, etc. Snapchat is no behind ! With increasing snaps every day, sending them everyday, it is often that we might need to unsend a snap once a while.

Snapchat stands away and alone from the best, the reason being the feature of sharing real-time photos and videos through Snapchat. There are many new features added to Snapchat that facilitates and provokes the user to share their photos and videos, like Snapchat streaks. A photo on Snapchat is called a snap, therefore everyone competes with each other on increasing the snap score.

Now when we send a snap to our friends in our list, we usually do not send it to everyone but selected people that are either close to us or are making streaks with us. Therefore, in a hurry, there comes a possibility where we unintentionally send a snap to the wrong person on our list and become nervous about how to unsend a snap.

Can You Unsend a Snap on Your Snapchat?

But before we move on to various steps we have to know if we really can send a snap in Snapchat because most of us have seen or heard that it is almost impossible to unsend a snap once you have sent it to a person.

So when you take a photo or a video and send it to your friends on Snapchat then there is almost no way to unsend them once you have already sent them. The only thing you can do to avoid the confusion is to altogether delete the snap you posted to prevent any individual or a group of individuals from seeing it.

Unfortunately, even after you delete it no one can guarantee that person/the recipient has not seen your snap. He might have opened it or might not have and the probability of which becomes low if you delete it faster.

How to Unsend a Snap?

When you chat on Snapchat, it deletes the chat automatically. But sometimes you might want to unsend a snap that you shared on your personal chat. Here is how you can unsend a snap that you sent in a personal chat:

  1. Open the chat tab where you were chatting on your chatbox.
  2. Tap and hold on to the message that can be a photo, video or any gif.
  3. A pop-up message will appear that consists of three options: save in chat, snap reply and delete.
  4. Tap on the last option i.e. delete.
  5. Now you will be asked to give a confirmation button asking whether you are sure of deleting a particular snap. Also, keep in mind that Snapchat works quite similar to WhatsApp texts here. The person you sent a text to would know if you deleted a snap as she/he will receive the text message regarding the same.

Always remember about the deletion of photos and videos on Snapchat. It is impossible to unsend a message on Snapchat like on WhatsApp, unlike Instagram where you have such an opportunity.

In Snapchat and Whatsapp you can only delete a snap that you have sent the notification of which will reach the recipient.

What is Something That You can Unsend on Snap?

As we now know that it is entirely impossible to unsend a snap on Snapchat, but at the same time, everything that lies in Snapchat has a problem of not being able to unsend. But at the same time there are several different things that you can delete on Snapchat, and here are a few. With the clear chat feature in Snapchat, you can easily delete messages that you have sent to your friends.

Let us have a look at a few things that you can unsend from your conversation box:

  1. Text messages
  2. Bitmoji stickers
  3. Photos and videos
  4. Audio messages

Take a special note here that the recipients will still be able to see the message and know that you have deleted one of the above from their chat.

Could You Unsend a Snap Earlier on Snapchat?

If you are thinking that earlier you heard that some people could unsend a snap but they are unable to do it now, they are not entirely wrong. Before the several updates, many users found a way on how to unsend a snap on Snapchat.

It was easy, once they sent a snap and realised that they have sent it to the wrong person, one could put the phone on aeroplane mode. This prevented the snap from uploading on your account and thereby unsending it automatically due to the network issue.

But now, when everything uploads on Snapchat cloud-first, this trick does not work at all now because it will restart its uploading once the internet gets stable once again.

So these were all you must know about how to unsend a snap and why you can only use the delete feature and not the former.
