Easy Ways To Change Screen Resolution In Windows 10

Windows 10

• Open the Start menu and search for the ‘Display Settings’.
• You can also access the Display settings by right-clicking on the desktop screen. From the list choose the settings to open the settings dialog box.
• Search for the ‘Resolution’ settings towards the bottom of the screen.
• Click on the down-arrow to open the drop-down list of different ranges or pixels of resolution.
• Choose the resolution that would suit your monitor display the best.
• When you click on the new resolution, you can the changes being applied to your screen. If you find this suitable then save the changes otherwise try another one.
• In case you do not want the change, you can choose the ‘Revert’ option. This will revert the display to the previously set resolution.
• Finally, click on the ‘Keep changes’ option to save the change in resolution.

Make sure that you choose an option within 15 seconds as Windows is programmed to automatically revert to the previous resolution on its own in case no option is selected. This is to prevent a scenario where the new resolution makes everything on the screen almost unreadable!

• Click on the ‘Apply’ option. If the resolution value is suitable then click on the ‘Keep Changes’ option or use the ‘Revert’ option to shift to the previous value.

Windows 7, Windows 8

Follow these steps if you use the Windows 7 or Windows 8 version.

• Right-click on the desktop screen and from the list choose the ‘Screen Resolution’ option.
• Click on the down-arrow symbol to access the drop-down menu and choose the resolution values from the list.
• A vertical bar with different resolution values would be displayed which can be dragged to adjust the resolution of the monitor.
• After fixing the resolution value click on the ‘Apply’ option followed by OK.
• Click on the ‘Keep Changes’ option or the ‘Revert’ option.

TIP: A general tip to understand the resolution values would be that as the resolution value is set at a higher value the clarity is increased, the size of the text would decrease, and vice versa.

Windows Vista

• Right-click on the desktop screen and from the list choose the ‘Personalize’ option.
• Search and click on the ‘Display Settings’ at the bottom of the screen.
• There would be a ‘Resolution’ bar that can be slid from left to right to adjust the resolution scale.
• If you slide it towards the left the resolution would decrease whereas it would rise as you shift towards the right. The clearest display of objects would be possible if you set the resolution value to the recommended pixel range.
• After fixing the resolution value click on the ‘Apply’ option followed by OK.
• Click on the ‘Keep Changes’ option or the ‘Revert’ option.
• Click ‘Yes’ on the prompt that states “Do you want to keep these display settings?”.
• You will find the 15 seconds timer running at the bottom of the dialog box after which the settings would revert if you haven’t responded to the prompt.

Windows XP

• Right-click on the desktop screen and from the list choose the ‘Properties’ option.
• The Display properties windows would be opened. You can also access the display properties dialog box from the Settings menu in the Start menu.
• Under the Display option, you would find the Screen resolution slider with ‘Less’ and ‘More’ written on both ends.
• Drag or slid the pointer to set the display resolution. The pixels value would be displayed at the bottom of the slider.
• Click on the ‘Apply’ option.
• Choose ‘OK’ followed by choosing the ‘Yes’ option from the prompt of the Monitor settings box.
